If you need to capture position or speed from incremental encoders and handwheels – with touch-probe inputs for precise latching and fast compare outputs – the Solidot XB6S-PL20 is a 2-channel encoder counter module of the XB6S slice series.

🏭 Typical applications

Position/speed: evaluate ABZ incremental encoders right in the field.
Handwheel/jogging: process manual inputs at operator stations.
Length/cut measurement: capture the exact counter value at the moment of an event via the touch-probe input.
Fast reaction: compare outputs switch when a position is reached – without waiting for the PLC cycle.

⚙️ Key specifications

2 encoder channels (A/B/Z), single-ended, up to 1 MHz; modes ABZ, pulse+direction, CW/CCW.
Per channel: 4 touch-probe inputs, 4 general DI, 4 compare outputs, 4 general DO (NPN).

This module is not a standalone fieldbus device: it plugs onto an XB6S bus coupler, which handles the connection to PROFINET, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus and other protocols. You capture or generate the signals right in the field and transmit them over your existing fieldbus.
