If you need a reliable 5G connection in a machine, plant or vehicle for high-volume data transfer, real-time remote access or video streaming — without sacrificing fallback networks — the Teltonika RUTX50 is an industrial-grade dual-SIM router that combines 5G, 4G, 3G and Wi-Fi in a single device.
🏭 Typical use cases
Machine remote maintenance with high data loads: Camera streams, remote desktop connections and OTA updates run over 5G without bottlenecks. If 5G drops out, 4G LTE Cat 20 takes over automatically — without interrupting the connection.
Mobile units and vehicles: The integrated GPS receiver delivers real-time position data. Passive PoE input (9–30 V DC via LAN1) enables clean wiring in vehicle installations without an extra power supply.
Temporary installation sites and field networking: Dual SIM with automatic network switching on signal loss, data limit or roaming — the router stays online even if one provider fails.
Edge computing and IoT gateways: OPC UA Client & Server and Modbus TCP run directly on the router. Field device data can be forwarded to the network without an additional gateway.
📡 Mobile and Wi-Fi
The 5G module supports Sub-6GHz SA/NSA with up to 3.3 Gbps download (4×4 MIMO) and 600 Mbps upload. Backward compatible with 4G LTE Cat 20 (up to 2.0 Gbps DL / 200 Mbps UL) and 3G. Integrated Wi-Fi 5 (802.11b/g/n/ac Wave 2) delivers up to 867 Mbps across both bands simultaneously (Dual Band, MU-MIMO).
🔌 Ports and hardware
5× Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45), all ports configurable as LAN or WAN. 1× USB Host for modem backup or local storage. Integrated GPS/GNSS receiver for positioning and geo-fencing. Passive PoE input via LAN1 (9–30 V DC, not IEEE 802.3af/at compatible). Alternatively powered via DC terminal (9–30 V DC). Operating temperature: −40 °C to +75 °C.
🌐 Remote management and protocols
To centrally manage dozens or hundreds of routers, use Teltonika RMS — remote configuration, firmware updates and diagnostics without site visits. The open RutOS (OpenWrt-based) supports OPC UA Client & Server, Modbus TCP, MQTT (broker & client), SNMP and FOTA. Programmable in C, C++, Lua and Busybox shell.
For secure tunnels between sites, choose from OpenVPN, IPSec (IKEv1/v2), WireGuard, ZeroTier, GRE, PPTP/L2TP, SSTP, DMVPN or Tinc — all available on the same device.
