If you want to integrate a serial device – barcode scanner, scale, frequency inverter or an older controller – into a modern fieldbus system without a separate gateway, the Solidot XB6S-C01SP is the right slice: a serial interface directly in the XB6S station.

🏭 Typical applications

  • Connect Modbus RTU devices: poll frequency inverters, energy meters or temperature controllers via RS-485 and pass the data to the PLC via PROFINET, EtherCAT and others.

  • Scanners and scales: read devices with their own ASCII protocol using freeport mode.

  • Retrofit: keep using legacy devices with RS-232 instead of replacing them when switching to fieldbus.

  • Save a gateway: no separate DIN-rail box – the interface sits directly in the I/O station.

⚙️ Key technical data

  • 1 serial channel, RS-232 or RS-485.

  • Protocols: Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII and freeport (freely programmable protocol, master and slave).

  • Electronics supplied via the X-bus. IP20 protection, operation −20 to +60 °C, storage −40 to +80 °C.

🌐 Fieldbus connection

The modules are not standalone fieldbus devices: they plug onto an XB6S bus coupler for PROFINET, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP. The coupler handles communication with the controller, and the modules exchange their data with it via the X-bus.

🔧 Mounting and dimensions

35 mm DIN rail, dimensions 106 × 72 × 25 mm. Pluggable terminal block with spring-clamp terminals – snap on and wire without tools.
