If you want to extend an existing Odot IO-Link master with decentralized digital inputs and outputs, the Odot IP-IA series offers IO-Link hubs in an IP67 housing. Each hub is an IO-Link slave per V1.1 and connects to an IO-Link master (such as the Odot IP-PN-8IA or IP-EC-8IA) over a single cable – depending on the variant with 16 digital inputs, 8 inputs plus 8 outputs, or 16 freely configurable inputs/outputs.
🏭 Typical Applications
Consolidating field sensors and actuators: instead of wiring every sensor individually back to the cabinet, all signals run through the hub and a single IO-Link cable to the master.
Modular expansion: one master can serve several hubs at once – pick the right I/O mix for each part of the machine.
Flexible retrofitting: on the 16DIPDOP variant, every channel can be configured as input or output in software – useful when requirements change later.
Harsh environments: IP67 housing for installation right on the machine, with no extra protective enclosure.
🌐 IO-Link: Connecting to the Master
The hubs work as an IO-Link V1.1 slave (default transfer rate COM2, 38.4 kbps, adaptive) and connect to an IO-Link master via an M12 cable (A-coded, 4-pin). Configuration is possible via the master or in software; the devices support data storage (parameters survive a device swap) and a configurable input filter time.
🔌 Design and Connections
8x M12 ports, A-coded, 5-pin: depending on the variant, 16 digital inputs, 8 inputs + 8 outputs, or 16 configurable channels (2 channels per port via Pin 2/Pin 4).
Digital inputs: PNP, type 3, 24 V DC, switching threshold from 11 V, input delay max. 500 µs.
Digital outputs (8DIP8DOP/16DIPDOP): PNP, 0.5 A resistive load, max. 3.6 A per module, short-circuit protected.
Diagnostics: reverse-polarity protection, over-/undervoltage detection, communication diagnostics, per-channel status LEDs.
⚠️ Limitations, Stated Plainly
No channel isolation – channels are not galvanically separated from each other.
PNP logic only – no NPN version in the range.
Operating range -30°C to +60°C, storage -40°C to +85°C.
An IO-Link master is required – the hubs are pure IO-Link slaves and do not operate standalone on a PLC.
🏷️ Manufacturer and Reliability
Odot specializes in IO-Link and remote I/O technology for IP67 field use. The IP-IA hubs are CE certified and tested to IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD), IEC 61000-4-4 (burst) and IEC 61000-4-5 (surge).
