If you want to bring IO-Link sensors and actuators into an EtherCAT controller directly from the field, without dedicating a separate cabinet module to every channel, the Odot IP-EC-8IA is a compact IO-Link master in an IP67 housing. The module acts as an EtherCAT slave and provides 8 IO-Link Class A ports that together support up to 16 digital inputs or outputs – right at the machine, with no extra control cabinet.

IO-Link in the field instead of the cabinet: sensors and actuators connect directly to the module; process data is exchanged cyclically over EtherCAT.

🌐 EtherCAT and IO-Link: Two Protocols, One Module
The IP-EC-8IA is a standards-compliant EtherCAT slave with up to 1024 bytes of cyclic input and output data; the station address is set via a DIP switch (site alias). On the field side it works as an IO-Link V1.1.4 master with 8 Class A ports (COM1–COM3, adaptive transfer rate), maximum cable length 20 m per port.
🔌 Design and Connections
8x IO-Link Class A: M12, A-coded, 5-pin, each port individually configurable as IO-Link, digital input (PNP, type 3) or digital output (PNP/NPN, 0.5 A resistive).
2x EtherCAT network ports: M12, D-coded, 4-pin, daisy-chained (1 in/1 out).
Separate supply: Us (system voltage) and Ua (field voltage), each 24 V DC, max. 8 A, via 2x M12 L-coded, 5-pin.
Diagnostics: over-/undervoltage detection, communication status, built-in temperature sensor with automatic warning if exceeded.
Plug and play, online update: automatic device identification, firmware update without disassembly.
