If you need to collect many simple sensors or valves in the field without running a cable into the control cabinet for every channel, an IO-Link hub goes directly onto the machine. The Solidot IOL7 bundles 16 digital channels and passes them on to an IO-Link master over a single M12 cable.
🏭 Typical applications
Consolidating wiring: 16 sensor cables terminate at the hub instead of at 16 terminals in the cabinet. One cable goes to the master — up to 20 m, unshielded is sufficient.
Fixtures and clamping equipment: Read proximity switches, drive cylinder valves. That is exactly what the hub is built for: many simple signals, little space, harsh surroundings.
Retrofitting without touching the controller: The hub is a standard IO-Link slave and works with masters from any vendor. You do not need a free slot in the PLC, only a free port on the master.
Device replacement without re-parameterising: The hub supports data storage. After a swap, the replacement unit fetches its configuration from the master by itself.
🔌 Connections and channels
To the master: M12, A-coded, 4-pin. IO-Link protocol, transmission rate COM2 (38.4 kBd), minimum cycle time 3.2 ms, cable length up to 20 m.
To the field: 8 x M12, A-coded, 5-pin — carrying the 16 channels. Power and signal run over the same cable, standard sensor cables are enough.
Channel direction: The direction is fixed per model. The IOL7-1600B-M12 has 16 digital inputs (PNP, 4 mA input current, configurable input filter), the IOL7-0016B-M12 has 16 digital outputs (PNP). If you want to mix inputs and outputs, you need the configurable hub IOL7-16CB-M12 — just ask us about it.
Diagnostics: Channel status via LED, short-circuit and overload protection, temperature monitoring and firmware updates through the master.
🔧 Mounting and environment
Screw mounting with M4 screws, 165 mm x 58 mm x 34 mm, protection class IP67. Supply 24 V DC (18 – 30 V), operating temperature -25 °C to +70 °C, storage -40 °C to +85 °C. This puts the hub where the sensors are — including washdown zones, outdoors and unheated halls.
