If you want to connect smart sensors and actuators directly in the field without installing a control cabinet for every connection, the Solidot IOL7-PN01B-8A is an IP67 master that collects eight IO-Link devices and presents them to the controller as a single PROFINET node.
🏭 Typical applications
Sensors right at the machine: With IP67 and M12 connectors the master sits on the machine instead of in the cabinet. You save the sensor cables running back to the control cabinet and the terminals inside it.
Format changeover without manual work: IO-Link transmits parameters, not just switching states. The controller writes new switching points into the sensors during a recipe change — nobody has to walk up to the machine with a screwdriver.
Diagnostics instead of troubleshooting: Every port has overcurrent protection and its own status LED. A channel problem is visible in the TIA Portal, not only after you have measured your way through the machine.
Mixed operation: Not every sensor has to speak IO-Link. The ports also accept plain digital signals — up to 16 inputs or up to 8 outputs, PNP switching.
🔌 Connections and channels
Device side: 8 x M12, A-coded, 5-pin — IO-Link Class A to specification v1.1, transmission rates COM1 (4.8 kBd), COM2 (38.4 kBd) and COM3 (230.4 kBd).
Bus side: 2 x M12, D-coded, 4-pin (blue). 100 Mbit/s, up to 100 m between two nodes, 500 V electrical isolation. Shielded cable of Cat 5 or better is recommended.
Power supply: 2 x M12, L-coded, 5-pin (red) — sensor supply US and actuator supply UA are routed separately, are electrically isolated from each other and can be daisy-chained to the next module. Each path carries a maximum of 16 A; the module itself draws ≤ 100 mA from US. Reverse polarity protection is built in.
Digital channels: Up to 16 inputs (PNP, input filter fixed at 3 ms) or up to 8 outputs (PNP, 1.6 A per channel, resistive and inductive loads). ⚠️ On this model only Pin 4 can be used as an output — the IOL7-PN01B-8A does not support an output function on Pin 2.
🌐 Engineering
The master registers as a PROFINET slave and is integrated into the engineering tool via the GSDML file from Solidot — in the TIA Portal just as with controllers from other vendors. You then parameterise the IO-Link devices below it through the master, acyclically from the application program or via the engineering tool.
🔧 Mounting and environment
Screw mounting, 225 mm x 62 mm x 35 mm, 480 g, protection class IP67. Supply 24 V DC (±25 %, i.e. 18 – 30 V). The operating temperature range runs from -25 °C to +70 °C, storage from -40 °C to +85 °C, and up to 95 % relative humidity without condensation is permitted. This makes the module suitable for outdoor areas, washdown zones and unheated halls.
