The top model of the F2 series without a special function: Full HD on 15.6 inches, capacitive glass touch, 64 GB flash and 2 GB RAM, two separate networks. When everything is required except a safety function, the Kinco F2156E2-PX MAX is the device.
🏭 Typical applications
New machines with a modern operating concept: pinch-to-zoom in trend charts, swiping between pages — operators know the gestures from their phone and need no training.
Network separation with gigabit: LAN0 at 10/100/1000 Mbit/s for the upper-level network, LAN1 at 10/100 for the machine network.
Control panel on a support arm: VESA 100 × 100 mm and 26 mm depth — the shallowest device in the series, with the metal housing carrying the load and providing shielding.
Replacing an older 15.6-inch panel: the 382 × 246 mm cut-out and VESA 100 × 100 mm match the F2156E and F2156E2 — a panel swap without sheet-metal work.
🖥️ Display and performance
1920 × 1080 pixels on 15.6 inches at 1000:1 contrast and 89° viewing angle stability in all four directions. On this area an overview screen, alarm list and trend chart can be shown at the same time without switching views. The quad-core at 1.8 GHz with 1 GB RAM keeps page changes and live values fluid.
Resolution: 1920 × 1080 pixels (Full HD, 16:9)
Brightness: 300 cd/m² | Contrast: 1000:1 | Viewing angle: 89° / 89° / 89° / 89°
Touch: capacitive multi-touch on hardened glass
CPU: Quad-Core ARM 1,8 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM + 64 GB eMMC flash
Real-time clock: built in, NTP-synchronisable
👆 Capacitive glass touch: benefits and caveats
Hardened glass front with capacitive multi-touch. Pinch-to-zoom, swiping and multi-point input make trend charts and navigation concepts as fluid as a smartphone.
⚠️ Please note: thick safety gloves or very wet fingers can impair detection. For glove-mandatory or wet environments, use the resistive sibling model: Kinco F2156E2 (resistiv, sonst identisch).
🔌 Interfaces and connectivity
Ethernet LAN0: 10/100/1000 Mbit/s (Gigabit), RJ45
Ethernet LAN1: 10/100 Mbit/s, RJ45 — second independent port for separated networks
COM0 (3-in-1): RS-232, RS-485 and RS-422 in one DB9 connector — one of them usable at a time
COM2: RS-232
USB: 1 × USB host (stick, keyboard, barcode scanner, webcam) + 1 × USB slave (program download)
💾 MAX: 64 GB flash and 2 GB RAM
The MAX is the memory upgrade of the F2156E2-PX: 64 GB flash instead of 8 GB and 2 GB RAM instead of 1 GB. Display, CPU, housing and interfaces are identical.
When it pays off:
Trend archives over long periods: if you keep measured values in the device for months instead of exporting them, 8 GB fills up quickly. 64 GB moves that limit considerably.
Recipe management with many records: hundreds of product variants with dozens of parameters each are then held entirely locally — even when the network is down.
Large projects with many screens and bitmaps: 2 GB RAM keeps more pages in memory at once, so switching stays fluid.
💡 When it does not pay off: for a normal machine visualisation with operating screens, an alarm list and a short trend buffer, 8 GB and 1 GB RAM are sufficient. In that case the F2156E2-PX is the more economical device.
🌐 Protocols and PLC compatibility
If you need to merge data from different sources or visualise plants across vendor boundaries, the drivers shipped with Kinco DToolsPro do it directly — no separate communication processor, no licence fees. The software is free.
Modbus RTU (client and server) via RS-485/RS-422 — the standard for compact machines and legacy installations
Modbus TCP (client and server) via Ethernet — for networked controllers
OPC UA server and client — for cross-vendor networking and MES integration
MQTT publisher and subscriber, BACnet IP, NTP
Siemens TIA Portal: symbolic tags can be imported directly — no manual retyping of addresses
Vendor drivers (selection): Siemens S7-200/200 SMART/300/400/1200/1500 and LOGO!, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Mitsubishi MELSEC FX/FX5U/Q/iQ-R, Omron CJ/CS/CP/NJ/NX, Allen Bradley CompactLogix, Schneider Modicon, Delta DVP, Inovance, Panasonic FP, Xinje XC/XD/XL, CODESYS V3 — over 60 drivers in total
Remote access: built-in VPN function, EdgeAccess 2.0 for remote access and PLC pass-through
💡 Projects from the predecessor software DTools can be imported into DToolsPro.
