An IP camera on the machine, a Wi-Fi access point under the hall roof, a code reader on the conveyor: each of these devices needs its own power supply in addition to the network cable. That means a second cable, another power supply and more terminals in the cabinet. The Solidot SW4 PoE switches deliver data and power over the same cable, according to IEEE 802.3af/at with up to 30 W per port. No configuration required.
🏭 Typical Applications
IP cameras: process and quality monitoring on the machine, without a power supply at the camera location.
Wi-Fi access points: mount them on the ceiling or a hall column and run just one network cable.
PoE devices on the line: power code readers, small panels or sensors with PoE input directly from the switch.
Retrofitting: add cameras or access points without running new power lines.
🧩 Which Variant?
100 Mbit/s: HUP05C-POE (5 ports) and HUP08C-POE (8 ports) are enough for access points, code readers and cameras with moderate resolution.
Gigabit: GUP05C-POE (5 ports) and GUP08C-POE (8 ports) for high-resolution cameras and larger data volumes.
🔌 Technical Specifications
Ports: 5 or 8 × RJ45, 10/100 Mbit/s (HUP) or 10/100/1000 Mbit/s (GUP), auto MDI/MDI-X
PoE: IEEE 802.3af up to 15.4 W and IEEE 802.3at up to 30 W per port, automatic detection; V+ on pins 1 and 2, V− on pins 3 and 6
Power supply: 48 – 57 V DC, two inputs P1/P2 for redundant supply, reverse polarity protection, 4 A overcurrent protection
Power consumption: max. 125 W including PoE load (HUP05C-POE: max. 123 W)
Environment: operation −40 °C to +80 °C, storage −40 °C to +85 °C, 5 % – 95 % RH, non-condensing
Housing: aluminium, IP40, passive cooling without fan, MTBF over 100,000 h
Standards: IEEE 802.3, 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3x, 802.3af, 802.3at, Gigabit models also 802.3ab
🔗 Compatibility
Powered devices according to IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at are supplied; the ports detect the standard automatically. For data traffic the same applies as for any unmanaged switch: Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, camera streams and anything that runs over standard Ethernet.
⚠️ Limitations Stated Openly
48 – 57 V DC supply: a 24 V power supply from the control cabinet is not enough. Plan a dedicated 48 V supply sized for the PoE load.
Limited power: max. 125 W consumption for the whole device. With 8 ports, not all can draw 30 W at the same time (8 × 30 W = 240 W).
Unmanaged: PoE cannot be switched or monitored per port.
Protection class IP40: for control cabinets or protected enclosures.
