Odot MG-CANEX - Making CANopen field devices accessible via Ethernet
In many machines and systems, decentralized components communicate via CANopen networks (e.g. drives, encoders, IO modules). These serial fieldbus segments are difficult to use directly in modern Ethernet-based control systems because they lack a suitable network connection. The Odot MG-CANEX acts as a protocol converter here, converting CANopen data into Modbus TCP and thus enabling direct integration into Ethernet infrastructures.
The MG-CANEX works as a master in the CANopen network and connects to standard CANopen slaves (PDO, SDO, Heartbeat). At the same time, it acts as a Modbus TCP server via which up to five TCP clients can access CANopen data in parallel. This makes it ideal when existing devices need to be accessible and readable via SCADA, MES, PLC Ethernet or IoT gateways - without expensive adaptations to the control software.
