You need 16 to 64 I/O signals on a machine but don't want to build a long module rack? BOXIO is Odot's compact remote I/O system: one housing, one bus coupler card and up to four I/O cards. The BN bus coupler sits at the bottom of the housing, powers the cards and connects them to your controller via fieldbus – whether it comes from Siemens, Beckhoff, Omron, Mitsubishi or Rockwell. You just pick the coupler with the matching fieldbus.
🏭 Typical applications
Small distributed stations: 16 to 64 channels right at the machine, only one network or bus cable runs to the PLC.
Adding channels to an existing controller: If a Siemens or Beckhoff controller runs out of inputs or outputs, add them via PROFINET or EtherCAT without replacing the PLC.
Data for SCADA and control systems: Up to 5 clients can access the channels simultaneously via Modbus TCP (BN-8031).
Legacy serial installations: BN-8011 connects the station via Modbus RTU over RS-485, cable length up to 1200 m at 2400 baud.

Modbus RTU (BN-8011) · CANopen DS 401 (BN-8021) · Modbus TCP (BN-8031) · PROFINET with MRP and IRT (BN-8032) · PROFINET RT without MRP (BN-8032-L) · EtherCAT (BN-8033) · EtherNet/IP (BN-8034). The Ethernet versions have 2 RJ45 ports (10/100 Mbit/s) for daisy-chaining in line topology. On the BN-8032, MRP and IRT cannot be used at the same time.
💡 Configuration: You set up cards, channels and parameters with Odot's free IO-Config software. The device description file for your PLC software (GSDML, ESI or EDS) is in the Downloads tab of each coupler.
🔧 Technical data (all couplers)
Expansion: 2 I/O cards in the B32 housing, 4 I/O cards in the B64 housing, up to 16 channels per card
Power supply: 24 V DC (19.2 – 28.8 V DC) with reverse polarity protection
Environment: operation −30 °C to +75 °C, 5 % – 95 % relative humidity non-condensing, protection class IP20
Connection: push-in terminals up to 1.5 mm² (AWG 16), mounted in the BOXIO housing on a 35 mm DIN rail
Display: the LC display on the housing shows card type, channel status and firmware version
⚠️ Don't forget the housing: The bus coupler is a plug-in card. To run it you need a B32 housing (2 I/O slots) or B64 (4 I/O slots). Cover unused slots with the SH847-3 slot cover.
