Lieferzeit: 3 bis 5 TageFor anyone wanting to connect an Eaton easyE4 control relay to serial Modbus RTU – for example to address frequency converters, energy meters or other Modbus-capable field devices – the base device is extended with the EASY-COM-RTU-M1. The communication module is mounted on the DIN rail to the left of the base device and coupled to it via the easyCOM connector.
The module supports both operating modes: master/client (the easyE4 controls the field devices) and slave/server (the easyE4 is addressed by a higher-level system). This covers typical use cases from a decentralised stand-alone controller to integration with a SCADA system.
🏭 Typical applications
Master mode – connect field devices: Frequency converters (e.g. Kinco KC100, INVT GD20), energy meters, sensors or actuators with Modbus RTU interface directly controlled and read out via the easyE4.
Slave mode – pass data on: Integrate the easyE4 as a subordinate unit into an existing SCADA, control room or building management solution.
Heterogeneous installations: Network devices from different manufacturers via a uniform protocol – without gateway effort.
⚙️ Prerequisites and compatibility
Base device: Eaton easyE4 from hardware generation 05 (available from 04/2021) with firmware V1.40 or newer. Hardware generation 08 is fully compatible.
Configuration: Via easySoft 8 – including Modbus mapping and diagnostics
Engineering: Module firmware V1.01 (release notes MZ049016EN) brings stability and functional improvements

The manufacturer is Eaton (Moeller series). The module is CE-certified and tested to UL Listed (file E205091), CSA, EN 50178, EN 61010, EN 61131-2 and EN 61000-6-2/-3. Additionally UL Hazardous Location Class I Division 2.
🔧 Mounting and scope of delivery
DIN-rail mounting (35 mm per IEC/EN 60715), to the left of the easyE4 base device. Screw terminals for 0.2 – 4 mm² solid or 0.2 – 2.5 mm² flexible with ferrule.
Dimensions: 36 × 90 × 58 mm (W × H × D), weight 0.1 kg, protection IP20.
Recommended combination: Together with the EASY-E4-UC-12RC1 (HW V08) you get a complete Modbus-RTU-capable nano-PLC with display and Ethernet.
